SCHEMCON, Students Chemical Engineering Congress, is an annual event organized by the Students Chapter of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) under one of its Regional Centers. It serves as a pivotal platform for Chemical Engineering students to engage, learn, and immerse themselves in the dynamic landscape of their field. SCHEMCON-2024 marks the 20th edition of this significant gathering, jointly organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Jais and the Amethi Regional Centre of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers. The overarching theme of SCHEMCON 2024 revolves around ‘New paradigms of Chemical Engineering’. Set in a premier institution for Chemical Engineering education, this event promises to be distinctive in its breadth of perspectives and innovative ideas, drawing participation from industry leaders, researchers, educators, and talented students across diverse disciplines

About Organising Institute

The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology Jais, Amethi, Uttar Pradesh was established by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India by an Act of the Parliament in 2007. The institute was accorded with the status of an Institution of National Importance and its NIRF ranking in 2023 is 79th in engineering category. The institute is co-promoted as an energy domain specific institute by six leading oil public sector units (ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL, and HPCL) in association with the OIDB. The institute is associated with the leading International Universities/Institutions specializing in the domain of petroleum, petrochemicals, and energy sectors. About IIChE

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) was established on May 18, 1947 in Jadavpur University, Kolkata by Dr. Hira Lal Roy and the place is recognised as the headquarters of IIChE since then. The aim of IIChE is to spread Chemical Engineering education and to foster the interest of the Chemical Engineering profession in general. At present, IIChE has around 29,000 members, 42 Regional Centres and more than 165 Student Chapters. The Institute is recognized by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization. IIChE annually organize Indian Chemical Engineering Congress (CHEMCON). IIChE has been organizing SCHEMCON (Students' CHEMCON) annually since 2005.

About IIChE Amethi Regional Center

IIChE-Amethi Regional Centre (ARC) was established in December 2021 at the premises of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Jais which falls under Amethi District. Presently, the IIChE-ARC has 19 faculty members and growing. IIChE-ARC is committed to promoting the advancements in Chemical Engineering profession by organizing meetings, conferences, seminars and workshops. Refresher courses and counselling sessions for the students shall also be organised to inculcate scientific temper in them.For more Visit here

About MP Chary Award

IIChE has also been felicitating M.P. Chary Award annually to an outstanding Chemical Engineer below 35 years of age or pursuing PhD or competed PhD in last year. The candidate will be required to make a presentation on his/her research work or his/her view on selected topic. The award carries M.P. Chary Medal and a prize money of Rs. 10,000/- .The template for the same is provided here "Template Link".

Frequently Asked Questions

Students will be permitted to avail the share hostel room accommodation ONLY (separately for boys and girls) on nominal accommodation fee basis. However, each student must register for the conference individually and provide the details to avail the accommodation facility.
Yes, students can submit a request through email to change their oral presentation to poster presentation is required. The same will be converted after the consideration by the committee members.
The abstracts received will be evaluated by a team of judges. The selected abstract list will be displayed on the website and the authors will also receive an email regarding the same.
Then the registration link will be opened for the selected abstracts. The registration will be confirmed by the fee remittance and the registration form submission.
In the oral presentations, 8 mins will be given to the presenting authors for the presentation followed by 2 mins of question answers. In poster presentations authors have to make a poster and the poster will be displayed in the exhibition hall. The authors will have to explain the content of their poster to the judges on their turn. The templates for the oral presentations and posters will be shared in the 1st week of August 2024.
The abstracts will be published in the conference abstract (souvenir) booklet.
Registration fees vary based on the participant's category (student, professional, IIChE member, non-member, etc.). Detailed fee information is available on the registration page of the website.
